Painter IX - Exercise

Ok, so I guess it's completely obvious that I'm a complete rookie when it comes to painter. I was kinda hesitant to post this but it's not like everything needs to be perfect. After all, this is what I produced on my first try. The colors are kinda harder to control than in photoshop but they definetly look more natural and realistic (not in this example).... And somehow I can't merge layers with each other...which is kinda strange.

I guess like in the case of photoshop, it'll require a lot of practice until I can exploit at least some of its potential but until then you'll have to do with paintings like these. ;)

If anyone is compelled to share some advice or tips please go ahead.

thank you paul, chio and alexei!! you're comments are all too kind.^^ and I'll keep practicing.

and thanks ken! that was definetly useful! I had stumbled upon it before but never had the motivation to read it until now. so thanks! And yeah, I pretty much used the airbrush and then smudged it with water. That's why it kinda looks mushy.
