I did see spidey 3, and while it was a very entertaining film I couldn't help but feel very disappointed. The second movie was almost perfect plotwise etc. so I guess my expectation for this one was too high...the villains were kinda lame especially venom...and a lot of scenes were exaggerated and cheesy...plus the storytelling wasn't as smooth as the first two...but I still enjoyed it. :)
X-men 4?! Are you SURE?! I mean absolutely positively SURE?!
Because from all the stuff I read (like interviews and crap) they seemed pretty definite about the fact that there would be no further continuation...
But, I do not want to get my hopes up, I have been so disappointed by all the other movies (I know the characters VERY well...so I was VERY disappointed)
So, unless Gambit is one of the main characters, I don't want to hear about it.
Venom lame?! No way! Sure, the entire process was sped up a little but essentially it happened just the way it was supposed to...well, minus Harry and Brock dying...they were just supposed to end up in asylums. Part of me...will always feel irked about the fact that Toby Mcguire was chosen to be Peter Parker, though I have for the greater part accepted it...and very much look forward to number 4...and I can only speculate about what they could possibly feature...
The Connors-Lizard scenario maybe? What about mutation troubles? Will Michael Morbius make an appearance? And what of the Vulture guy and Felicia the black cat? Or the Scorpion? Maybe the Rhino?
There are a LOT of villains out there for Spidey to deal with, but keep in mind that this is actually a lengthy series of comic books with storylines drawn out for...well much longer than the movies...BUT THAT STILL DOES NOT JUSTIFY THE BUTCHERING OF THE X-MEN!!!
Rogue is supposed to be a damn sexy southern belle! Not some whiny little teenager with the hots for a human popsicle! (Move aside Bobby! You're supposed to be with Lorna...or Norma...or whatever her name is...)
you know I did enjoy the first two parts of x-men a bit...I know they messed a lot with the characters but they were still watchable. part 3, on the other hand, was an absolute catastrophe...bad script, bad story, bad director
the thing with venom is...I think they didn't do him justice, and the actor's head poppin out of the costume really took away the menace...at least for me. I think, they crammed too much into this movie ... but I'd definetly watch part 4 if they do it...and I would love to see connors as the next villain.
Yeah, the connors thing is totally awesome...plus it ties in well with the vulture guy and peter's mutation trouble...
Well, I've spoken to your brother, who believes the movies should have ended at 2 (which was so not possible) and couldn't give me any good explanations on why he didn't like it and I was almost afraid you'd give me more of the 'too many people crying in one scene' speech. However, I am glad to report that your argument is validated...true, the venom thing is a storyline that they maybe should have considered dragging out into the next movie since it's a fairly lengthy arc in the comics.
But when we watch these movies, we always have to ask ourselves...could we have done it better?
Thanks for the links btw.
OMGOMGOMG!!!
I actually squeaked when I checked out those link provided...I dare not get my hopes up...but it sounds like Gambit's going to be a main character! I just pray that Holloway (or the scriptwriters for that matter) don't mess up the character! Gambit's cajun. He speaks French and he's got a really cool accent and uses French words a lot oh and he calls practically all women chere...
Now, there's a reason why Gambit's got a lot of female fans...he isn't also known as 'the king of hearts' for no reason ^^
Well, I found it fairly predictable...my mother (who bought the tickets) didn't and she is one smart cookie.
So, it might vary from person to person. All I can say is that I wasn't particularly shocked by anything (other than one 'short' occurence in the opening scene) in the movie.
That is however not saying that the movie was bad, like I said, I really enjoyed it and I really like it...but opinions vary and I don't want anyone setting their hopes too high and be disappointed in the end.
There's a lovely little surreal scene in there that I absolutely adored though.
Well, roughly a week ago, I watched the last of the 3's for this year.
Shrek 3
Now, I have been following updates and trailers on this movie since last year.
And after number 2 I had some fairly high expectations.
Needless to say, I was disappointed.
Yes, it was very funny and good to hear the old voice talents of Mike Meyers, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz, Antonio Banderas, Julie Andrews, John Cleese and Rupert Everett as well as the introduction of new to Shrek voice talents: Justin Timberlake and Eric Idle.
However, there was just WAY too much going on and personally I don't think that cramming all of those things into a mere 90 minute time-slot does the story any justice.
It was just too rushed with what they intended to put in.
I give it 3 stars because it did make me laugh a fair bit.
Hmmm...I'm still not entirely sure if I want to see that one...when I saw ads for it, I was like..."Another penguin movie?"
It almost seemed too soon after 'Happy Feet' just like a year or two ago when 'Madagascar' was closely followed by Disney's 'The Wild'.
It's not that I'm saying they're copying from each other, but it's like different animation studios are saying, "Your doing a movie about penguins, we'll do one too and it's gonna be better than yours!"
I'm not saying that this actually happens nor that this was anyone's intention...but that's just the feeling I get...
And while I'm on a rant, does anyone look at 'Bridge to Terrabithia' and think..."Isn't it just a little too soon after Narnia?" because that's what I think...no offence to Disney, but...I'm not overly impressed...yes, cgi is flawless, but...the story does not enthrall me...or to be more specific, the trailer does not have effect on me that compells me to watch the movie...
Now, 'The Simpsons Movie', 'Ratatouille' and 'Transformers' I want to see and that's based solely on the trailers...Transformers was a surprise...when I first read about there being a movie I scoffed at the idea, not being a major mecha fan, but after the trailer...all I could do was mumble optimus prime to myself and draw robots (the latter was restricted to mini-doodles due to serious lack of time)
So many movie to watch...so little time...there's still the Harry Potter movie...and I've reserved a copy of the book at Borders...if I collect it on the 21 of July I get a free plush owl (which is, as strange as it may seem, the one reason I reserved the book at that particular bookstore...I am gonna get there extra early to make sure I get one!)
yeah, I know...same thing with a bug's life and antz and finding nemo and shark slayer... the thing is that animated-movies generally take up to 4 years so when you're in the middle of the process it's hard to go back and change the characters because one movie is similar.
but I found surf's up to be really good. I enjoyed it more than happy feet. and believe me, it's different. and the way they told the story was refreshing. the characters just happen to be penguins...and it really made me wanna go surfing...=)
didn't see bridge to terebethia...although I wanted to. I don't think it even came out here. But I'll definetly read the book.
yeah transformers looks amazing, I just hope there's more to it than the effects.
anyway, thousands of pages are waiting for me to be studied...sigh hope you get that plush owl ;)
Yes, I realise just how long the animation process is...heck...I spent two weeks on a pathetic one minute Image Ready animation...the movements are jerky and quality poor...but everyone at uni seems to think it's the best thing since sliced bread...most likely because it features an obese cat.
Anyway, I'll probably give the surfer movie a shot (after my assessment). Although, my view on 'Bridge to Terrabithia' hasn't really changed...a friend of mine read the book in high school and she told me it was incredibbly lame...my brother watched the movie on the plane...and he said it was incredibbly lame...so, yeah, I'm thinking the book would be the lesser of two evils...
Hey man, hope u post some drawings again soon. I saw some of your portfolio blog, really like the guy who is kinda melting haha love his expression. Its superduper.
As for ratatouille, did you see the 9 minute (was it 9 minute?) Teaser? Its pretty cool... but i hate the fact that the rat talks.... and the rat and the main character have american accents! In france!!!! NOOOOOO!!!!
'Tis why the world of animation rocks...ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE ^0^
Anyway, I've been watching DVD's ever since my assessment ended...and so far I've seen: Fright Night and Dead or Alive...the latter is on the corny side and good for a laugh but not something I would bother adding to my personal DVD collection (despite it being more recent).
Now, even though 'Fright Night' is a horror flick spawned in the 80's...I found it A LOT more enjoyable than a great majority of 'modern horror'. The effects were quite stunning and realistic...more so than some of today's actually.
Hell, it even made me scream...ah, now THAT'S a horror movie: Vampires and Vampire killers...so much more refreshing than ski mask wearing maniacal slashers.
ken - ahhaha you saw it too! I was trying to keep it secret but now everyone knows! ;) thanks for the compliments!
And I did see the preview of ratatouille. It was that bit that actually made me excited about this film. but yeah it's true there's been way too many talking-animal movies which really is a shame since animation has much more too offer.
chio - thanks for all these movie reviews :D I generally don't like horror movies that much...mostly for the reason that the majority doesn't have any plot...but what it made you scream? I think I've heard of fright night, maybe I should make zoro watch it >=D mwuhahah
but that new movie 1409 or something looked interesting.

Wooww!!Looks AWESOME!!!I want to see it!
Ah...Ratatouille...while it IS a movie I want to very badly see, it is only one of many on a list containing:
Pirates 3
Shrek 3
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
...and...there were others...though I can't recall...
Oh, but Spiderman 3 is AWESOME!!!
If you haven't already seen it, I urge you to watch it and if you already have...well, it can't hurt to watch it again ^^
Anyone seen, Meet the Robinsons or Happily N'ever After?
I have.
First one, pretty good...second one...the script/storyboard needs work, good characters though.
yeah, the summer of the 3's isn't it.

*Sigh* I'm such a fangirl...
Oh by the way, love your portfolio!
oh ahahhaha you noticed?? Thanks alexei! :D
Well, I went ahead and watched Pirates 3 today...
And I quite enjoyed it, despite a fairly predictable plot.
I'll say no more.
predictable? ... ah well, I still have to wait until the end of june until I can finally see it :( stupid exams..
Well, I found it fairly predictable...my mother (who bought the tickets) didn't and she is one smart cookie.
